Yep I am the same as Tysfoot, no work at the moment, I tend to phone and talk to trades people, call in kitchen shops shops etc. and drop leaflets, but if it does not pick up soon I will need to find alternative work to pay my bills.
Some one said they spent £3,000 ? on advertising but did not say what value of work it brought in ?

I wouldn't spend 3k on advertising with any directory. Especially yellow Pages.

Stick to their free listing but I wouldn't pay them anything. You know they sell on your details too? Gits.

I have been busy promoting my services for a couple of weeks now - more knackered than when tiling.

Now have confirmed work booked for both domestic and commercial. I like the mix, it keeps me sane.

I have used a company for all my flyers/brochures etc for a while, they do a great job at a great price which helps. Spent about £150.00 on printing and with a little help from them on design have over £3,500 of work.

Even though i now have a lot more worked booked i shall continue to promote my self, company and services, it feels so much better being busy doing that rather than sat waiting for the phone to ring. Also agree with Dan on Yellow Pages.

If you would like the details for my flyers or the printers P.M. me.
