if the tiles are laid on plywood, once you smash the first couple up and can get to the plywood, you can get them up in a morning as once you get the plywood flexing they come away from the wood, although it is hard work. i have just lifted large tiles (ceramic not porcelain) and ply of my chipboard kitchen floor (13m2) and the floor has a few screw holes and little chips but otherwise is ready to be replyed and tiled. if they are laid on concrete i wouldn't want to try and lift them and would tile on top if could.

Hi Mate,

You can do this.

I would suggest ensuring that all tiles are securley fixed in place. (any loose or damegd tiles should be removed and filled with a repair compound)

After this prime the floor with a neoprane primer and screed to a smooth level finnish.

Now you can lay your wood obver the floor using the correct adhesive and you may need to install a DPM too.

for tiles follow the samew procedure for damaged tiles etc

prime and screed (manufacturers of screed you use will reccomend the correct primer)

fix tiles with suitable adhesive reccomended for the tile you choose
