can i tile on top of my floor tiles

I wouldn't mate. You know what subsrtate is under it. Rip it all up , see what is there and start again.

well thats the problem, i do know. under them is a wooden floor, i used a flexible adhesive to fix them and am concerned about taking them up as its a hell of job. do you still think that would be best - to take them up

Hello maria.....I would advise you take them up....

Timber expands on contracts at a different rate to your exisiting tiles so to add another layer is adding a layer that again will expand as well as the layer underneath....not advisable on timber floors...

tiling worry - please help!!!!

i really want to get this right. i tiled onto a wooden floor 5 years ago with flexible adhesive - now id like to retile - can i tile on the top of the original tiles or do i have to take them up. if i can tile ontop what tile adhesive do you suggest?

You will be doubling the tile load onto your joists, do think they have enough strength to support the extra load and not deflect?

If it's in a kitchen, you might have hight problems with your appliances, under work topps.
