career change

hello tilers. Im looking for a career change and wanted to go into tiling. Any ideas what training centres do the best intensive courses? Is nvq necessary to become a qualified tiler?

That depends what you call a "qualified" tiler. Surely to have a qualification you 1st need to be qualified and a NVQ on paper gives you that but you can be a tiler without.
I suggest you read the posts on here and get more of an idea.

Hi kg in a similar position and am going to do a 10wk course at able skills in dartford soon have been to see the facilities there and seems a really good place learn. The other place a lot of people rate highly is nett but that was a bit far away for me, have a look through some old threads on here but definitely pay able skills a visit mate as they seem the real deal to me.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I was hoping to get somewhere closer to home. Im down thornton heath, surrey. I did give ableskills a call. they are too far for me. thanks i will try n have a look at nett.

Think nett are in the north east mate so a long way, able do offer accommodation at a very reasonable rate but would of thought a half hour drive on the m25 would be more cost effective I haven't come across any closer to Surrey than able and would make sense to pick the best centre not necessarily the closest.
