Cash offers outside of E-bay Rules

I had my Rubi TX700n on e-bay and stipulated to pay with paypal and collection in person and top bid was £230 and got a message this morning I'll pay cash and meet you somewhere ????

Now I did'nt ask for 5 goats and 2 chickens or an old grandmother in exchange for the cutter, I asked for paypal, it ai'nt rocket science:nonod:

I replied to the message "Was there any reason why you can't pay by paypal as requested".

Yet to get a reply.

Have you guys/girls ever had any problem going outside of e-bay.

I bought my TX off eBay and paid cash on collection, not really a problem. You are protected through PayPal though, careful you don't get dodgey notes if you take cash.

i dont see it has a problem , as paypal protects the buyer, so if he wants to do it that way then why not , plus u dont have to pay commission i believe

Had a few things without going through Ebay..........never had a problem, and as mentioned, it saves the ebay fee.

If a guy pays cash, login to your ebay account and mark the item as paid for, and ignore the ebay rules.

If he pays cash it's cash don't complain.

PayPal shouldn't be able to chase you for fees related to cash on collection payments.

Your ebay fee's will still apply and be the same either way though.

I always used to mark my payment options as "cash on collection, paypal but you pay paypal fees, cheque but you wait for it to clear fully before collecting". Never liked paying paypal fees at all.

When I buy however, I always try to use paypal, because then if it doesn't work or is the wrong item I can always use paypal to get my cash back and / or a replacement from the seller.

I'd meet at the nearest pub as then you don't get him banging on your door if he somehow breaks it and assumes its your fault. It is eBay after all.

A bit off topic but don't forget if you use PayPal to pay you lose your section 75 protection even if paying by credit card
