I have a kitchen floor around 35 m2 that requires cleaned and polished. I'm sure the tiles are fairly cheap ceramic slate imitation but the house holder doesnt want the bother of replacing and wants me to try and clean them up.

Currently they look dull and matt any ideas on products for shining up ceramic tiles?

Thanks for your help

Hello Rab,

Use a good degreasing cleaner and a polishing machine with a red 3M pad for cleaning and scrubbing the surface (you can hire these, and buy the pads from the same place). Then wash the floor with clean water and allow to thoroughly dry (24 hours). then:
a)Then apply a satin finish surface sealant with a brush if the tile is 'rivened', but not too thickly. Brush the sealant on in ONE direction. The next coat goes on 90 degrees to the previous.
or
b)If the tiles are not 'rivened' the apply thin coats with a cloth.

If you still have the polishing machine, go over the lot with white pad once it has thoroughly gone off to bring up a higher shine.

Hope this helps,

Tom

I would use a rotary scrubber with a tan pad, use a good tile cleaner either lithofin, or Aqua Mix, apply cleaner as per instructions, use a wet vac to clean up all the dirty water, then rinse with clean water and when dry use a white pad to buff them up. Do not seal these as they are ceramics and don't need sealant applying.
