chipboard flooring advice

hi

im after a bit of advice, were looking at getting our bathroom tiled both floor and walls. The bathroom is 3 mtrs x 2.5 mtrs and is waterproof chipboard floor, the house is only 2 years old.

Now i want to be prepared for when i get tilers round so that know what to ask from them and have a bit of knowledge, i've read through the forums and it seems that plywood seems the way to go to ensure there's no bounce on the floor but are there any alternatives so that there a minimal step between the carpet and tile.

What about Ditra matting, would this be ok for a small area if its fitted correctly with flexible adhesive or is plywood the best way. we haven't yet chosen the tiles so would the choice of tile make a difference?.

Replacing the floor would take us out of budget

Any advice is much appreciated

Thanks

Bret

Hardibacker 250, glued and screwed is the ideal scenario providing you have a deflection free floor. What tiles are being fitted? If its a soft stone you may need ditra as well.

Thanks for the quick reply. Were not sure what tile yet, going to look at the weekend. I think the floor is solid but thats only what i can see. We have seen a porcelain tile which we liked, how thick is the hardibacker board.

thanks
