clout nails or screws for hardie 250?

I did forget once to screw the hardie to the floor after fixing with spf, that was a number of years ago and it stayed there....

I always use screws but know someone who always nails it and has never had any problems...

I prefer a screw to a bang any day :vanish: I generally use Keraquick + 3.9 x 25 MDF Tite screws from Screwfix.

I got the notion of clouts after talking to customer, (actually my wife's cousin) but anyway the general gist was that his dad (god bless him lol) had said that 6mm ply would be better:lol::lol:, so I showed the customer what hb 250 was on hardies website. Whilst I was showing him the pdf I noticed that hardies also mentioned using non-flexible ​addy for bedding to substrate, that immediately set off alarm bells as I always use spf to bed onto, so I rang the tech line and they agreed that spf was correct in conjunction with screws or clouts.

A DIY'er would have just gone with the specs off the website and probably end up with a failure and wonder why as they had followed the recommendations.
