.com or .co.uk

hi

just thought id gauge a few opinions on this subject..
when i buy a domain name, i usually buy the .com and the .co.uk but whats your opinions on which version is more appropriate for a small uk business??

ie does .com sound as if your big company and put people off, maybe even a bit pretentious
or does .co.uk sound much more appropriate

any opinions welcome and appreciated

When I bought my domain I was told that .com was very American .co.uk is the one to have if you are a British company. Buy them both so no one else can have it but, use the .co.uk IMO.

I own them all but they all point to .com

It depends on the domain name also.

.com sounds more established, rolls of the tongue better & there's even a quick link button on your mobile device for .com

.com is just easier to remember, its that simple but they are going to be introducing loads more extensions like .this or .that .... dont ask who they are, i heard it on the jeremy vine show a year ago

.com rolls off the tongue easier there for easier to remember.

There's a advert on a local radio station at the moments raising the awareness of a .co.uk address........ not heard it all to know what they're getting at though! which kind of makes my post pointless

whenever they refer to the crash or bubble or boom its never the .co.uk , i rate the dotcom much more than the uk

There's .co out there just now which looks like your either missing an "m" or ".uk"

Mine is .co.uk, i had the same advise as Bri about it sounding non American. I don't think it matters too much though as the age we live in everybody uses plenty of each so it's not really a problem.

Just pick one and as long as they all point to the same domain, it makes no difference what the customer types
