concrete floor

Hi what is the recommended time to let a 6 inch thick concrete floor go off, its getting poured this week, i said about a month but the builder wants it done within 2 weeks, is there any way of speeding up the process.... cheers

the general rule is 1 week for every cm of screed you could use bal green screed adhesive but i think 2 weeks might be to soon even for that

Hi Wayne, never seen Ditra matting before so i "googled it" and it looks fantastic, do you know roughly how much it is and where to get it from, i will be covering 130m2

the board is very expensive, you can ask him to get a givlon screed which is gel based and goes off a lot faster but is a little more expensive than just concrete. I worked with it at the travelodge crewe and the pub opposite and that was around the same depth and was off in the frost in 3days.

the ditra is roughly £10 sqm and i get mine from andrews of leeds. some people buy it in bulk off ebay as well.

you could try bal green screed adhesive

you can use green screed adhesive basically as soon as you can walk on it without leaving footprints. Ive used it quite a few times 24 hours after laying a screed. Its bloody good stuff. Bal give you a 10 year guarantee on its use so they obviously trust it. Bal do actually honour theyre gurantee as well. something ive not found with any other manufacturer.

a much under-rated adhesive, about 4 years ago screeded an exterior swimming pool surround and the next day started to lay about 60m2 of random size stone, whent back to the same house about 2 months ago and its still solid as a rock
