Concrete flooring

Hi guys
I have a job to go price and its something i haven't done yet. Its a kitchen floor one half is concrete and the other half timber, the concrete side is about 18mm lower than the timber.Now this may sound daft but can you board the concrete with ply to even the floor up so its all level to tile?

Lay some backerboard or insulation boards down instead with spf.... forget the notion of plywood on concrete......Gaz

Also you will need a movement joint where the two substrates meet....
