copper honed slate

hi all,urgh:lol: i have been to see a job today its copper honed slate,the customer has bought it already from some internet stone company.had a look and its uncalibrated with a nice flat honed face,the backs leave a lot to be desired ranging from 7mm to 14mm,im starting a honed silver slate job next week as it happens but this stuff is calibrated . bit lost as so what extra to add onto this uncalibrated one and can i expact to acheive a perfectly flat finish with unclaibrated honed slate?

you will need to grade all slate before starting (extra time)

you will use more adh and spend more tome laying (extra time)

should achieve a fairley flat floor if you take your time as i know you will

It's been a couple of years since I laid some uncalibrated slate but I remember using nearly twice as much adhesive as flat tiles and a lot of relifting to put more adhesive under one side of a lot of the tiles. As long as the top surface is flat/honed I don't see why you shouldn't get the whole floor flat.

It'll look the dogs dangly bits when its done!
The tones/colours are wonderful.
It's quite a soft slate and marks fairly easily so plenty of seal and a few coats of satin polish on completion.

just used the copper slate here as a decor strip.
