Grout Correct way to using tile grout

Tilers Forums Official Sponsors

Hi,

I read one article saying that when using tile grout, we need to have 2-stage stir . After the first stir of tile grout, just let tile grout stand for 3~5 mins in order to make "redispersible (latex) polymer powder " in tile grout dissolve. If we skip 3~5 mins standing time, part of undissolved redispersible (latex) polymer powder will be carried by moisture to the surface and result in "latex leaching"(not sure I am correct or not) or phenomenon like efflorescence. Does anyone hear of this before from related experts?

Also, does anyone know any other website or forum where I can discuss about construction chemicals (e.g., tile adhesive, tile grout and waterproofing materials) on?

Most all grouts require you let it "slake" or take a 3-5 minute break after your first mix it for usually around 2 minutes then another 2 minutes after letting it sit. Usually back of bag has water ratio and mixing instructions.

some grouts require constant remixing throughout the grouting process..
it isn't hard though......just read the mixing instructions on the bag...!
