been asked to price for labour only for 6'x6' ceramics going in disabled bathrooms for local housing trust, the contract is for 3 years.

anyone got an idea of a ball park figure per M2 i should go in for

I had a similar call yesterday :lol:. I was asked for supply and fit, so plucked £30 per sqm out of the air. It seems I was in the right ballpark 'cos I've been asked to look at the job now. I'm not sure that I would want to quote labour only tho'.

Always hard to quote blind, what are the walls like, how much cutting, if there will be Altro flooring, who fits the trim etc. if fitted by others, it is usually miles out of level. Can be hard work, but it depends who you are quoting against. It seems there are some crazy rates out there at the moment good luck with it

They just send a jack of all trades to plaster patch existing walls and it's NEVER good

my mate has done a bit of work for the builders who are doin it b4, an he said they are pretty good like and they will make sure the standard of prep is up to scratch. i was thinkin around £18 per m2 what do yous think

I quoted for a council job some years back, it was for 500 plus property updates. Usual stuff, two rows over the bath and a bit in the kitchen. I quoted £180 per house and figured I could do 2 per day. A polish firm got the job at around £90 per house...:mad2:

Years later most of the houses have had to be retiled.........Councils go for bottom dollar and waste their (our) money. :incazzato:

I'm with Diamond on this one, they'll be looking for the cheapest quote, they'll tell you they have 10 plots ready, you'll get there to find what they meant was 10 kitchens or bathrooms ready and end up hopping back and forth to the same plot to do the rest in stages. I would put something in writing when quoting along the lines of X amount per m2 per plot on condition of continuation of works in each plot otherwise day rates ???

What figure did you have in mind ?

Based on the above info, if there is only small amount in each plot then yo may be better on a price per plot.

As for price i know of a guy who supplied and fitted 450 bathrooms for local authority, the suites were £85 each so you can imagine what the tiling costs..... and more importantly what it loked like!

Its up you of course - However it sounds like a no brainer to me. I would probably politely turn it down as you will always find it done cheaper by a guy with one eye called wally. Too much headache for too little.

This!! ive done council work many moons ago for a contractor subbying for the council, everything is shoddy , a complete shambles ,the pays crap and you will wait a eon to recieve payments ...

i started some last year in whitby, never again the houses were lived in the first 1 we were sent to , the poor old guy living in it was on his death bed in the front room , none of the bathrooms were ready just kitchens about 4m2 walked straight out ,said sorry but cant work in them conditions

if you do take this on ??? then make sure you get a writen order and check terms of payment. make sure you include a day rate for any prep work coz there is bound to be some . get each room signed off as you finish each one,. just try and cover all the points that can hold you up on getting paid on time. good luck.
