Having had a leak in my downstairs shower room, I have ripped out the old shower cubicle, and replaced, the stud wall, and replace with aqua board. The other wall, is plaster, but its slightly rough.

Will it be ok to tile onto a plastered wall, ifs it slightly rough.

Also I have fitted the aqua board with the face side showing, is this the correct side to tile onto, as it feels slightly smoother?

And finally when fitting the shower cubicle, do I fit the shower cubicle and then tile, or do I tile, and then fit the shower?

Many thanks

Cheers for the great advice. I am relieved that I fitted the aqua board correctly. It may well be bonding, on the rough wall, as its grey, and is a little rough from when the tiles were last taken off the walls, by my last dodgy tradesman, who convinced me that the plastic panels are far superior to tiles in a shower cubicle. Anyway his work lasted less than two years before I had to rip it all out last week due to damp.

My tiles are just simple ceramic, and are approx under 8 inches by 10 inches, and I will be using Mapei waterproofing adhesive, and Dunlop tanking kit.

If I fill in the rough areas, and then fit the shower tray, and tank the are, and tape the tray in will, this be ok.

Also how do I add pics. Many thanks

Decided to get a trusted plasterer in who is coming tonight to skim the whole room and ceiling. Will it be ok if he skims the aqua board or shall I tell him to leave it, only reason is that a very small amount of the board will be on show once the enclosure has been fitted.

Thanks Doug will remember to use multi-finish once I start the bathroom in the next few weeks.

Cheers all
