Cracked Tiles

Holy sugar!

Farrrrrrr to much adhesive!

Another plumber who thinks he can tile. *facepalm

Your tiles are cracking because as the adhesive (or whatever the hell that is that he's used) lost the water content and pulled the tile in. By the looks of it.

Are adhesive bags still knocking around? What brand did he use can you remember?

That cut is shocking too.

If a dentist wanted to Tarmac your drive you'd tell him to take a running jump.

Don't employ people to do jobs when the title of their trade isn't matching the job you want doing!!!

And never employ a "builder" to do anything. 'Building' isn't even a trade. It's the collective term for brickes and roofers and whatnot but you wouldn't get roofer putting footings in etc so don't expect a tiler to plumb perfectly or a plumber to tile perfectly.

Very very few people can do more than one trade to a skilled qualified standard.

No bags of adhesive around as it was done in March and I didn't notice what they used. I did actually buy the bathroom from a local bathroom specialist who had been recommended,so assumed his workmen would know what they were doing. They did say when they had finished that the walls weren't square. He is now going to seal the wall before re applying the tiles, it that the right was to do it?

Yeah your faith is often with the suppliers. And to be fair they assume themselves they can tile sometimes these plumbers and builders etc do so why would one question them?

Any area with that much adhesive needs to come down. Then it needs preparing properly (possibly overboarding with tile backer board or at least plasterboard). If plasterboard used it needs tanking around the shower.

Then tiling when everything is flat.

And only using the correct trowel.

Also needs to get a grip with cutting. Cutting a tile in a straight line is one of the easiest things to do in tiling and if he couldn't get that right I wouldn't have too much faith.

Ask for a qualified fitter to be supplied by the shop and check some of their previous work.

Personally I'm thankful for these ****-ups, it gives us threads to chat tiling in :innocent:
