curved trim round a circle window

Hi Y'all, I need to do a bit of tiling on a wall that has a circular window in the middle of it, I know you can get stainless steel trim that is bendable, by Schluter I think, has any one used this before and do you really need the special forming machine £'s to get a top finish or can you form it by hand. The window diameter is 550ml. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Cow.

ive done it without a trim and put mosaic on the reveal ive got some pictures somewhere i`ll try and find em.

The bending machine can be hired and it does give a better finish than trying to bend it by hand which can cause the trim to twist

What tiles are you using.. ?

I did a couple in one wall with travertine , was going to mosaic the inside but it got plastered and painted..

As for the schluter formable trim.. not used it..

Thanks, thats a beautiful job, there are no plans to tile, or anything else, the reveal, by which method did you do the cut on the tile ?

Rotozip and grinder.. then polisher.

Cheers again, I just saw the video of Doug Boardley cutting a tile with a jig saw - what kinda blade did he have in that, and just to show what a dumbass I am please elucidate on a Rotozip. Cow

no, there was enough gap between each tile to still have a grout line

hi mate

theres a tool from tradetiler called, 'shaw circle cutter' that scores circles in the same way as a compass does. its great on ceramic and porcelain too. it will scribe radius's from 70mm-600mm. i bought one and its a good little addition to the old tool kit. you can use it for cutting holes in tiles for soil pipes too.

use it to scribe your circle, then plunge out a few lines with your wet saw/grinder to reduce the curve angle and snap out the segments and give the edge a quick polish to finish off. it leaves a neater line than an angle grinder but obviously, its only good on ceramic and porcelain, not stone.

Thats all great guys and some fantastic work on show but back to the trim, has anyone any info on it and what about doug boardleys jig saw blade ???
