Customer supplying own adhesive...

My customer has supplied me with Mapei cement based adhesive, Tile Giant must have sold it to them with the tiles and they did this before they contacted me.

I always use Ultra products as that is all my local tile shop stock, can I use Ultra acrylic primer for a Mapei adhesive or has it got to be a Mapei primer?

My gut feeling says Mapei but does it really matter?

I tend to use Bal or Sbr primer with all adhesives I use....

You can intermix primers but you lose any guarantee if things should fail.
(But then all failures are down to fixer error aren't they?!)

I second both above, I use Weber primer for everything even if Bal or profix addy

If anything goes wrong first thing they will ask what primer did you use, I always use ultra with ultra acrylic primer, mapei with mapei primers (primer g , s or t, if need Eco primer)

I still say if anything goes wrong it won't be down to mixing primer brands.
Wrong use of said primer maybe, but not mixing brands.

If you used different brand primer to a different brand adhesive you lose any guarantee if things should fail.........

Tough one...I suppose I'm going to tell him he needs another trip to Tile Giant. At first they had sold him tubbed adhesive but I insisted it had to be powdered.

Will the Mapei primer be the same stinky stuff in the tanking kits I use?

I think I'll just buy this and charge him for it, I don't want to be awkward and make him go out again to prove the point that I like supplying my own adhesive, because he's a nice guy.

Problem is turkish i doubt they would pay out anyway.
Imagine it, it says on the tub , say 3-1 mix, you tell them yes i used 3-1 they will say prove it,u say take a sample, they do come back and say sorry its 3.56743 -1 , your wrong they are right, thats a bit extreme but insurance/big companys will try owt to get out of it, you would be like a shivering whippet by the end of it .

And aint most primers SBR based ?
