With the greatest of respect mosaic man (and I do mean that). You have stated that Training Schools are a complete waste of time and whilst everybody has a right to their own opinion, have you ever thought that maybe you just had a bad experience? You also stated that the guys in CTD are just salesmen and don't know what they are talking about and even that was second hand information from your boss, you then go on to say that tiling over tiles is more or less standard practice, and whilst it is not unheard of it isn't best practice. Whilst I have no idea of who your boss is or how much experience he may have, I have a feeling he is doing you a dis-service by maybe showing you how to cut corners. Again I have no proof of this but am making assumptions by the few posts you have made, let’s hope I’m wrong. You have only been tiling for 2 months and you may be very impressionable and seeing as your boss is maybe the only 'pro' you know, you may come to realise in time that he may or may not be doing everything right.
I do hope you'll stick around as this really is the best source of information for a new tiler like yourself, there are thousands of pros registered here and all of them are just dying to help somebody like you out - even though it might mean they lose some work because there is just one more tiler out there!
