dont let it bother you (i know, its hard!!), if you need the work quote cheaper, if you dont....carry on as usual!

Agree with this. I priced a couple of tiling jobs back in the summer when I had a full diary (various defferent reasons, not just tiling) and to be honest I came in pretty expensive. Didn't hear anything and wasn't too upset cos I was busy anyway. But one has just come back to me and wants me to do the job.
You can never tell. All customers are different and there are some that will avoid a cheap quote thinking they'll get a poor job. Problem is when you're a bit short of work and you price it very realistically and desperately want the job.

I think with most 'services' it's always going to be easier to reduce your price on a job by job basis than it is to increase it, might sound like common sense but there are some who have dropped their prices when work has been slack only to find that they struggle to increase it again later, especially when the jobs are 'word of mouth'.
If a particular customer feels she /he is getting a good deal pricewise that's fine, but she/he has to realise it's the exception rather than the rule..imo:thumbsup:

Interesting thread. I have upped my price and am booked till the end of February. I have seen that many bad jobs out there I spend most of my quote time telling the customer what the cheaper plumbers/tilers do and show the proof of jobs I have done.
Just won 3 bathrooms and a 170m2 trav floor from a painter and decorator. He said I was £1000 more expensive than the guy who can start next week but wants to go with me and will wait a month.
He said my written quote impressed him and feels I would be more thorough.
