I turned up for work 1st thing this morning, having booked this job into the diary weeks ago. I've had no end of hassle about tile choice, specs, layout etc etc.

I had decided not to buy the tiles for the customer (due to a nagging suspicion that they may not be "good enough") so I had stressed to her that there is a 3 day lead time on a special order from the Tile shop.

I arrived this morning and there are NO BLINKIN' TILES :mad2:

"I thought I'd give you the cheque and you could collect them for me!!!"

Now I am sat at home, trying to pull a job in early so I am still earning.

Is it me?! :whatchutalkingabout

I always make a point of contacting my next customer a day or two before hand just to make sure everything is tee'd up ready. Bit late for you now though, but worth bearing in mind for next time.

Yep - i ALWAYS do this.
You never know what can happen so put the onus on them to make things/time available.

I always do this too! Easter week-end got in the way though and she couldn't be contacted. I left an email and voicemail though.

My terms and conditions are about to change.....

I always take deposit which is non refundable. Makes them serious and if they have problems they will contact you to say joiner or plumber not done can we change date etc. I was supposed to start big job 7th Jan went there no walls up or screed in so dropped of wet room board and walked away. 2.5k in my back pocket.

I don't imagine for one minute that a clause will / would recoup any lost money. But it might help prevent this sort of thing happening. (or at least make the customers THINK)

I'm sign-writing my van Thursday now, so that's one day taken care of.

Anyone need a bucket-boy Friday?!

I could do with one if things don't get finished thursday
