Someone on here will have the best answer for this but i sadly dont and im wasting tiles and creating duff cuts.

Right, i have 4 cuts which are all basically L shapes with notches out here and there and some where the angles that make up the L are nowhere near 90 degress.

Basically, when i arrive at the hole with my cut tile one side is always out just enough to ruin my grout joints :mad2:

Any advice?

Many thanks,

Dan

Dont cut the tile (or tiles) to the exact shape you want. So, cut the tile and offer it up to your hole. If it fits, then brilliant. If it does not fit, then cut a bit more off the tile. Keep doing that until it fits the hole (or around the hole).

Also, you stated you have already cut a tile and one side is out. So now you have a tile that nearly fits. Keep that tile and use it as a template for your next attempt.

Would love to see what shape you are cutting. A pic please.

I hope these pics might explain what Neale is saying about templates.

can an you help me understand that a little more, please?

i think I understand but a explanation would help :)

for an out is square L cut, you will presumably have a tile below it fixed, and one to the side... If you measure up from the tile below to the point at the end of the cut, then across from the tile at the side. Take off a couple of mm (or whatever) for your grout line, and 1 or 2 mm for play, and you have your 1st point. Do the same for point in the inner corner of the L, and you're done.
it's important that you're keeping the tape measure straight though, for accurate cuts. If you're not good at judging it by eye, you can mark the distance on the edge of the fixed tile, and hold the tape measure to that line too.... Hard to explain by text really!?! Lol
