Cutting around toliets and sinks

Hi all

Keen diyer (be nice) and have two rental proerties where i need to tile the bathroom floors. Will need to go around toilet etc so will be using the tip of using cardboard/tracing paper templetes to mark cuts. So what tool do you ouse to make the circular/arched cuts? Have seen a hand tool (glass and tile cutter) whch scores the tile and snaps it. topps sell em for around 15 quid??? They will only be cheap and cheerfull 7 quid per sq/m ceramic floor tiles from b and q so nothing too thick.

Welcome along to TF. I use a grinder for this type of cut, nippers are also handy. Are your bathroom floors floorboards or concrete? If they are floorboards/chipboard, you will need to overboard prior to tiling.

Hi & welcome. You will be far quicker & will have a better finish if you remove & refit sanitary ware. If you are not comfortable with doing the plumbing, you can either use a wet cutter, cutting in single lines about 5mm apart up to your line, knock them out & use your wheel to tidy it up. Other option is to use an angle grinder using a similar method as above

I always remove sanitary ware. Cutting round it takes ages, looks rubbish, and leaves you with a low toilet.

taking outs best, but when i cant and have to cut round i use a wet cutter and tile nips, and i like to get it spot on..

Scribe and nip and you can get a first class finish if you take your time. Sometimes it's not feasible to remove the toilet.

if you have to cut round try to work it out so the tiles fall in the middle, of the toilet and sink..

had to cut round the toilet and sink in this bathroom......just to give you an idea about the working out....
