Re: Cutting Plinths & Doors.

I am of the thinking now that I certainly cant beat them so I will join them after the relevant training which I am receiving in abundance. The money you can make on supply and fit kitchens is crazy. Its the right path for me.

totally agree, money is better, work is more reliable. Take all the training you can get, the sky is the limit!

Re: Cutting Plinths & Doors.

I have always been of the mind that every trade does their own thing and it has worked for me however the money I need to make down here to live...then I must branch out and I firmly believe that tiling has given me the standards I need to have to ensure everything I do in fitting kitchens is perfect. Best trade ever...just not enough money to be made in supply.

Re: Cutting Plinths & Doors.

Its a shame that some on here have double standers. They moan about how much our trade is getting diluted by builders and other trades that think tiling is easy. Yet they feel the need to treat other trades with the same contentment...as in its easy and any tom dick and harry can do it....

.

Most carpet fitters will trim doors down after they've laid new carpet, it doesn't make them carpenters despite the name!

Re: Cutting Plinths & Doors.

Cant say I've ever lost a job because I don't cut plinths or doors....customers don't expect you to, your quoting there tiling not there carpentry. ..

You just might not be aware you have. I can tell you we have won plenty of work where one of the deciding factors is that the HO doesn't have to call in other trades for minor extra works. It's cheaper for the HO as well as most trades will have a minimum charge no matter how small the task. And in any case some jobs really are too small, If a plumber installs a sink in a downstairs toilet and it needs 4 tiles sticking on as a splashback I doubt many tilers are going to get excited about that one and the plumber is hardly doing anybody out of a trade by just sticking the damn things on himself.

Most carpet fitters use the saw you trim doors with, without taking the door off the saw that cost a small fortune. ....

I find most customers tackle the job themselves or have a retired friend or family member only to happy to help them out......either way I sooner they **** it up than me. .lol
