Hi there,
Have job coming up that involves cutting marble (in strips of 15mm wide) for border around marble floor. I tried cutting one for practice and it leaves a pretty rough edge even with new blade on wet saw. Also the strips naturally break as they are so brittle. Customer seen design in showroom and wants exact same ie clean cut strips, no rough edge, no breaks. I score the tile first but still end up with rough edge. And yes I do have a stedy hand! Any advice??

what blade you using in your wet saw BIMP, my cpc (rubi) will do 3mm slithers down a 660 porc tile without breaking it

take your best pieces of marbel less pouris the better. Find witch way your saw pulls all saws pull one way or the other have your saw pull into the bigger piece, a 7" works better than a 10" if you have a radial (saw that pulls into the materal )insted of a table that pushes into the saw. cut slow don't work the blade. raise the bulk piece with 1/8" rubber on the deck and hold lightly the small on the end to minimize vibration. Have done this to about 4000 ft 3/8" wide works like a charm

I have recently bought the Norton TT200 EM from CTD. I have just cut travertine clean as a whistle with it and it gave virtually perfect edges. Still on special offer I believe at £99+vat.

does it have to be marble strips ? there are so many marble looky likes made from polished porcelain which is harder less chance of breaking when cutting and fitting

I can get you some diamond hand polishing pads that would get rid of those rough edge, if your interested let me know.

First thing id do is as Doug says make sure you have a quality blade in the wet cutter with plenty of water.
Then make sure you have a decent wet cutter!

Sigma 10M wet saw, perfect for all them little strips with no mess, bither or fuss.If everything in life was as good as a sigma-hehe

a decent cutter with a decent blade should make all the cuts you need and leave nice tidy edges mate
