Hi, just thought i would see if any of you have problems with different size tiles?

I find that you can fix a batch of tiles and some tiles have a 1mm difference or more, thus causing major problems when trying to make the job spot on and line up.

Do any of you find this? if you do how do you over come it?

Many thanks,
Sean

Usually depends where the tiles are from sean,if their from the DIY'ers then there all bound to be different sizes.I really try to discourage my customers from getting them from there.I warn them straight away so theres no comeback on me.
Really hard to get around it,sometimes having your grout lines a mm thicker hides it a bit and it does look better when its grouted as apposed to just laid.
I hate having to use them cause it ruins your job but hey I'm a tiler not a miracle worker.
You will find though that you'll be much more critical of your work than the customers,I've been annoyed with how it looks but the customers don't notice unless I point it out and then they still aren't bothered.

alright sean mate.... most tiles will vary in size and some will be worse tham others... it is just down the firing process and they will expand at different rates causing the slight difference in sizes...porcelain ones tend to be the worst as these are fired at a much higher temperature than ceramics..etc.......

Just done a floor today, ceramic, tiles ranged (and i'm not kidding) from 297mm - 302mm.

How the F*** are you supposed to get good grout lines with S*** like that...managed though ;)

were they from tile it all varley? iv found with some tiles they stock made by hit ceramics are different sizes (on the box it looks like rubbish ceramics as there is a picture of stags head in front of word hit)
