I will be pricing up a job for someone using 500x500 porcelains (apparently). I have not yet been to measure up so do not know how big an area is being covered but being porcelain and the size of the tiles am I right in thinking an uncoupling membrane is a must.

Where do you all get your uncoupling membranes? I remember reading that the dural was cheaper but from what I have found online so far (not had much of a browse) but found the ditra a little cheaper.

its not an absolute must Scott, but highly recommended if ufh is involved too.

It's not the size of the tiles that will determine an uncoupling or not - its the substrate.

Thanks for the birthday message last week Doug, weren't a good one. It was my 30th and I spent the whole week in hopital with my little girl. She was so ill, it was horrible seeing her like that

Yeah all ok now thanks Dave, got her to hospital and had to go on a drip for a couple of days. She was so dehydrated as she couldn't even drink water and keep it down. She didn't eat for 6 days bless her. They kept her in until she could hydrate herself and was eating again and then found she had high blood pressure so kept her in had an ecg, xray, heart scan, ultrasound on her kidneys etc, countless blood tests. She is only 7
