Ditra verses Durabase CI matting

well ditra had its problems in the early days but seems to have come through .there are a few decouplers still being tested by you and having problems while they learn dont pay for that yourselfs i would say dont use a decoupler untill it has been used in the market place at least three years dont be a test dummy if you have another proven choice

Ditra all the way.. well known and trusted and can buy @ £5.20 a metre inclusive for a roll delivered.. 🙂 durabase is rolled the other way and curls up at the ends :-( boooo

Where do get that at that price, PM me if needs must.

I wish Schluter would allow independents to stock Ditra , rather than pushing them to bigger retailers who charge what the retail can even buy at.. the whole point of dealing direct with schluter is too get at a good price and then make a profit selling it.. not buying it at trade price and then not being able to compete with others on the selling price..

Thanks guys,

OK have done a bit of research.

Seems like all the main brands - Ditra, Durabase, G-Mat etc had issues with the fleece de-bonding some time ago. This was the reason Dural completely redesigned Durabase matting (new cloverleaf design) about 2 1/2 years ago. To my knowlage Durabase has not had any problems since. I don't know what they did to Ditra to resolve it as their design looks the same to me but appears there are no problems with it now.

Dave... Ditra did not have any probs... where are you getting your info from ..?

Dura CI ... Genesis G-mat and Blanke mat had probs but IMO Schluters Ditra did not.. so unless you have info otherwise it would be good to know who said so..?

Just double checked and it was not the same problem - I have been told It Involved product made by the a plastics company (Interplast Kunststoffe GmbH) that made the old Durabase, G-Mat,Porcelanosa and Trimline Mat. As far as I know Ditra has be made in house by Schlüter for a long time so was not effected by that problem. I spoke to someone who mended most of those and also some Ditra floors. So if there is ever a problem with any matting (of any make) don't rip it up before checking if it can be repaired in situ

I have never ever had a problem with Ditra matting, its a superb product, and to my knowledge has never failed on any main large contracts.

Dave (tradetiler)......hello mate........

It cannot be repaired in situ.......they do what they call an "epoxy repair" and inject it into the substrate......but what they have not told you is that "REPAIR".....
REMOVES the decoupling effect from the matting!!!!!............making it a completly pointless excersise........I am happy to be corrected.....
but I am pretty well informed on the matter from various tilers who have had to deal with this situation.......and I feel really sorry for one and all!
the ONLY decoupler that has not suffered this problem is Schulter......to my knowledge......

all the best

Lee
