I am going to try getting a few hundred cards out on Saturday, doing a round robin of 3 superstore car parks. By the time I have done the third I should be able to visit the first again, and catch a new set of cars. Just wanted to know, if anyone has done this, am I likely to get any aggro from the store staff, or are they not arsed? I don't really know where I stand with this, obviously I can ignore them, or tell them politely to 'go away', but of course they will have my cards with contact details etc. I don't really want plod round doin me for trespass or something........any advice / experiences anyone?

I thought about asking Robbo, but if they say NO! then thats it I am dead in the water, if they see me and come out at least I have hopefully done quite a few. Plus if they come out I may be able to charm / intimidate* them (*delete as appropriate lol). I hate it when peeps put things under my wipers too Kev, you never see them until you are in the fcukin car! Then you have to get out again....annoying lol. I was going to use just business cards and tuck them in the drivers door window. Thanks for advice though guys

Many years ago I tried the same thing for a fledgling website I was trying out (not tile related) and I went to London

At Liverpool Street Station I stood outside and handed out leaflets.

Within 5 mins security were over to me to ask me to move on.

They were very hot on it and said I had to pay for a permit.

My guess is that you will be challenged.

You could just do it anyway. All I did was step into the street and moved along a bit. But the response was low.

From their point of view they dont want their customers hassled, and the litter.

Just an update on this......I got chucked off one car park, so I toned it down on the other one. Instead of putting cards on I went up to people getting in their cars and spoke to them, then gave them a card. I have to say that apart from a couple of narky gits, it was really good and the time seemed to fly. I tried to be really low key and no one bothered me. But the best news..... I HAVE GOT THREE QUOTES TO DO OUT OF THIS!.......to those of you who are quiet I reckon you should try this, it's not hard, in fact I found it quite enjoyable

How did you get chucked off? Security / management and what did they say?
The manager came over and said that if people throw the cards on the floor they have to clean it up, and if word got round the car park would be so full of tradesman handing out cards on a Saturday that customers wouldn't be able to get in lol........when I went to the other one I played it really low key and only gave a card out if they wanted one, so hopefully no chucked ones.

and how do you approach people going to their cars ?, "hi im a tiler, want any tiling guvnor" :huh2:
Not exactly Fekin lol......I said excuse me have you been looking at tiles or bathrooms by any chance? If they said yes, then I said sorry for the unusual approach but we were keener to do work with customers more local to us, and if we had more local work, by cutting down on travel and time costs we could be more competitevily priced, so could I give you a card etc. If they said no then I said the same but said could I give them a card in case they needed a good reliable local tiler in the future.......either way I tried to press a card in thier palm

Went to Tesco's last night, found around 6 tv's that I was interested in from 40" upto 50", called the sales guy over, "i'm inetersted in this telly can you give me some more information on it please" he replied "sorry sir that one is out of stock", the same thing happened with all of the ones I had selected....they have telly's on show but they don't sell them...lol
