TBH with that question you might be better off putting the gear away and ringing a tiler.

Spread the adhesive on the floor, personally for floors I always used a 10mm trowel.

hi cg to be honest not knowng what size tile your using or the floor substrate its difficult for the guys to be too specific but you do need to make sure you get as close to 100% coverage as poss and agood solid bed,...For me anything over a 300 x 300 i use a 20mm round notched trowel apply addy to the floor and backskim the tile with the flat edge of the trowel and tap down with a rubber mallet or a slight twisting action. your 8mm trowel may be ok but i would cross etch the tile aswell as the floor and twist it into place.

Thanks to you all for your replys.

I am using 333 x 333 tiles on a ply substrate which is very solid and even.

I only had n 8mm notched trowel so have used this. I have ensured I got a very good coverage and have using quite a bit of weight to twist the tiles so they get a good bond.

Hope this method proves ok.

Many thanks

Chris

So far you've had 8mm/10mm/and round notched 20mm!
Although I found nickj answer very honest but prehaps not the most diplomatic - I've been there, so Grumpy's rebuff is warranted!
Which trowell to put the adhesive on the floor?
Depending on the size of the tiles from Mosaic>large format your gauge will vary. However if you use a standard 8mm trowell and flat butter the back of the tile, to give a solid bed fix, you will in essence be applying 10+mm to the adhesive thickness!

It was meant as a playful comment so climb off the high horse. Check my other posts, none have ever been snide in anyway.
Will edit my original post so not to offend the op though because it was definitely not intentional.
*edit* Seems I can't edit the post, maybe this is because of the thanks etc. Will leave you as admin to decide if they want to change that comment then...
