did not know where to put this thread, but it needs a bit of exposure.

i live in London and i mainly work on my laptop, there are well over 20 wireless networks in my area, so my own wireless signal is up and down due to all the interference from the other routers!

anyway,

today i purchased a pair of these:

netgear-xe103.jpg

step 1.

you plug one in a wall socket (not extention cable) near you router and connect an ethernet cable to it and your router

step 2.

plug the other adapter in a wall socket near your laptop and connect an eternet cable between the adapter and your laptop/computer

step 3.

press encryption buttons on both units and woooooooooooohooooooo!

a blistering 100mbps and no waivering signal!

it is the equivilent of running a long cable from the router to the other computer!

they are brilliant!

p.s the ones i purchased are the 200mbps HD versions.

also available in cheaper and slower versions but all of these adapters are faster than WIFI!

I bought this a year ago for about £200 + 2 receivers @ £50 each, they've come down quite a bit now:mad2:

Best router I've ever had:hurray:

no good round here Colour, we all have those belkin wirless n's

there are 20+ n networks in my area, and bloddy hundreds of 801.11b,g's

wifi signals are everywhere round here and interfere with each other, slowing the speeds at times down to 11mbps. DOH!

That's the thing! the range on these are so good that more than likely you're picking up my signal from Brighton:lol:

you are right, they are a good looking bit of kit and i guess everyone purchased that model because they look good!

the fact that the range is over 1000m (i think) came second.

the problem is now they have come down in price we are all throwing out massive wifi range and killing it for everyone.

i am in the city 1 minute walk from the millenium wheel on the south bank!
