Do You Use Batterns & Grid vs Brickwork Formation For Rectangular Tiles?

1. Do you guys use batterns and start tiling from the second-course, or do you start from the floor and use tile wedges where the floor is uneven?

2. I have rectangle tiles (270 x 350) and not sure whether to use a grid or brickwork formation. I will be starting tiling from the centre of each wall. What will look better?

I use batton stands and start from the second course others may do differently, If the tiles are flat go for the brickbond, if they have a curve in them just do the grid.

the walls need to be flat too for a good finish with brick bond

I always start from the bottom after checking my setting out a couple of times. I prefer a grid finish, but if going with brick bond the Walls need to be dead flat to avoid lipping.
