Does a plasterer get your walls flat or do you do it yourself?

I do all my own prep due to the fact plastering has been a big part of my working life......

I bet you don't have to double mark your tiles for the internal cuts whitebeam. I understand your a very experienced plasterer

I've done the rounds charlie, rendered for tilers before on a job for London Underground and everything had to be spot on in the shower areas....all showers had to be exactly the same size and all walls plumb.

In domestics your up against it all the time, they just think the tiles will make the wall flat bugger the prep work.

i tend to do all the prep myself but usually find im either taking it back to brick n dot n dab or removing and re boarding exsting plaster board walls,although some peeps seem to think that a 2mm coat of multi has miracle properties that suddenly turn walls flat and plumb,i get alot of ceilings to over skim in bathrooms which all adds to the job and gives a bit of variety

Know what you mean about the 2 mm multi finish. Job in on the now, i had to redo most of the work that the plasterer left me, money down the drain for the customer really!!

Interesting, Iimo a good plasterer has a very good advantage on the prep side obviously but i think this is where the real skill in basic tiling is, having spoken to a plasterer from liverpool recently who deos a bit of tiling but not regard himself as a tiler, he knew more about tiling than 90% of all the other tilers ive met in real life.

i don't bother doing my own plastering, i get this fella in called ed from liverpool but to be honest i dont like him very much so i'll be doin my own from now on :0(
