I was wondering about that Neale

I chat on the BSA forum and theres as many oz contributers as uk , we pay about 7k for a bike that needs work and they are amazed at how cheap they are, they will pay about 25,000 aus for the same bike

it cant be down to the exchange rate as they will happily pay to have them shipped to oz

and its not rarity value as there are now more brit bikes down under than there is in the uk

my mates been buying us motors for years now and imports them

this time last year he bought an immaculate , low mileage mid 90s Le mans which he still has as he cant sell it, the prices have gone through the floor and us motors have never been so cheap here. he still has his 60s t bird but its going through a major rebuild as theres a lot of rot in the floor and chassis

hes had several falcons both us and aus , I love them, very nice to drive

the aus falcans are the same as the us fords but they kept the name for the aus market

the new generation fords are less thirsty and have smaller engines plus the fuel set up makes them burn leaner

insurance is high in this country as they are imports but running cost are comparable to a large european car of similer size and weight and in a lot of cases the spares are a lot cheaper and can be ordered on the net

I am seriously considering buying a us motor in the next few years. if my mates Le mans is still available I might make him an offer on that

Thanks Dan

but for some reason I cant open yours, I had this problem on the old forum where sometimes they would open and other times not. Dan reckons its my browser settings and hes probaably right

it doesnt matter I dont need to see the ad. it sounds a good motor but like every other car purchase you need to check it over to see if its any good

Hi there Mike, there is a mid 60's Pontiac LeMans parked about a mile from my house. It's a beautiful car and in great shape. I'll try to snap a picture of it tomorrow and you can show it to your friend.

When I sold my motorcycle I said I would get an old car, part of the reason which was because I couldn;t ever do anything with the kids on my motorcycle but I could in a classic car. I still haven't gotten the chance to buy an old car. My all-time favorite is a 1965 Pontiac GTO, but a mid-60's Chevelle would work, too.

it depends on the price of petrol over there g! a 4 litre injection petrol engine over here would probably see you putting in about £100 per week for work and personal use if you worked about 20 miles from home

My Mrs uses my 4.0L Cherokee to go back and fore to work now (it's more comfortable) apparently. She does 15 miles a day in it and we can go out for a drive on a Sunday on £60 per week.

So you're not far off with that.
