These profiles from schluter are good for this situation........

reno-v_200x130.jpg

Schlüter-RENO-V is a profile with an adjustable arm for creating stepless transitions between floor coverings of different heights; e.g. the transition between tile and carpet. In addition, the profile effectively protects the edges of adjacent coverings.

The movable transition arm, via a ball-andsocket joint, allows the profi le to adjust to the height of the adjacent covering. Thus the occurrence of trip edges between coverings of different heights is eliminated. Schlüter-RENO-V is also suitable for heavy-duty applications (e.g. entrances to garages or loading docks). In such cases, the
adjustable arm is back-filled with mortar.

You can get these profiles from any CTD branch...they will have to be ordered in......

For anyone that has a difference in height between two floors. Go to a carpet/wood flooring specialist shop & ask for a Zig-Zag profile bar available in silver, gold, bronze etc. They are approx 3cm high and all you have to do is glue them to the floor and squash them down carefully with your foot.
Hope that helps

I used one of the types CJ refers to. I fitted it to my bathroom tile-carpet transition and also kitchen tile to wood floor as shown here.

Tiles were about 20mm above concrete floor and height difference to wood floor about 8mm. I screwed a piece of wood to the floor to take up excess depth then attached fixing strip to it.
