Hi all
i keep having this continual problem when floor tiling especially when the hallway is back to floorboards.the drop from top of tile to floor is generally in excess of 20mm at the door threshold and no where seems to have anything suitable to cover it.am i looking for something that just isnt there?

There are plenty of products out there, you just need to find teh one that suits your particular situation. Failing that approach a wood shop and see if they could knock you up some bespoke threshold strips.

i am really surprised all the main tile shops i have tried dont have anything for what must be a common request.do you always put a strip down or do you leave it for the customer to sort out?

It would depend on the situation. If its a new build or no other floor coverings in the building then i leave it. If there are existing coverings then i find a suitable product.

that sounds a good way.it would certainly help if it was always going against carpet

Have you asked your supplier if they can order products from Shluter? I should think they would do something that will sort that out. Failing that, I have got most of my threshold strips from carpet and flooring stores rather than tile places. Hope thats some kind of help.

screwfix or b&q/focus do cover strips that consist of a bar that is fixed to floor and then a cover strip that clips in to the bar using plastic clips that come in two sizes,
they do a range of bars for different flooring surfaces
