Dry Times

Some advice please on drying time. Half way through bathroom - trying to do best I can. Two walls are tile on tile and two walls existing plaster. Walls prepared & primed. I have read somewhere that one needs to leave the tiles on tiles three weeks before grouting so that the moisture can 'get out'. Is this the case and what is the drying time for 'normal/plastered' walls? (No new plaster and using cement based adhesive/grout).

Also in the corner I am installing a shower. One wall will be existing plaster and one **** panel. I have bought a tanking kit for the shower and will be priming/tanking in the next few days. Once dried and tiled how long should I leave the shower unit before grouting. Also, as this is a shower is there a time to leave, once tiled and grouted, before using? Sorry to ask so many questions - its just having taken about 5 weeks to get this far (floor prep etc) I do not want to spoil things by not waiting for the correct times.

Many thanks.

As you are using a cement adhesive it does not "dry" it sets by chemical reaction. As soon as the adhesive has set you can grout away! Check the directions on the bag for recommended waiting time before you grout. It is usually stipulated on there.

British Standards (and BAL) say leave a shower for 2 weeks AFTER grouting before use.

Thanks for quick reply. I asked for Mapei but I think I got an Italian equiv. The pack states:

Cer Col

EN12004 C2FT & EN 12002 S1

Flex F.55 Cermono Rapido

This is a quick drying adhesive. I am not professional (wish I was) - this my 2nd tiling project at home but I do like this adhesive.

Rds.
