Dull coating on quartz tiles

Hi all

I've got a dull finish on my black quartz tiles that I can't budge. I suspect it is because I sealed them and didn't manage to get all of the residue off. I am aware that people on here say that quartz tiles don't need sealing, but the retailer suggested I used it, so I did. The sealer I used was an LTP one - I think it was this one: LTP MPG Sealer | LTP Online | Tile Cleaning, Sealing and Maintenance Products

Anyway, my question is: how do I remove the residue now? I've tried buffing them until I got blisters, but it makes no difference. I've had a search on here and it seems that the advice may be to use this stuff LTP Power Stripper | LTP Online | Tile Cleaning, Sealing and Maintenance Products and this stuff [DLMURL="http://www.ltp-online.co.uk/ltp-waxwash_23.html"]LTP Waxwash | LTP Online | Tile Cleaning, Sealing and Maintenance Products[/DLMURL]. Is that correct?

Also - what did I do wrong? I put the sealer down before grouting, left it for maybe 10 mins and then buffed and buffed and buffed with lint-free cloths for ages - but there is still a definite greasy sheen. Very frustrating - it took me forever, I didn't get the finish I wanted and I've got blisters!

Before you try anything else. Try using some more of the same sealer on a tile that is dull. This time put it on and wipe off within 1 minute, its worked for me in the past.
There does seem to be lots of people saying that these tiles lose their shine quickly. I cant say why other than guess its different makes.

Have you checked with the manufacturer instructions, just to be sure.

real quartz tiles dont need sealing.when quartz tiles are made they are mixed with resin .but some sealers may react with the resin you need to wipe a tile that as not been sealed .with the seal use a brush and leave bands wipe off one line at a time starting at one mininit then two then three and so on and see when it starts to damage tile surface

Sir Ramic - thanks, I'll give that a try. Will be a lot cheaper than buying even more stuff! On the sealer, it says to remove excess with white spirit but I get the feeling that they mean to do this immediately, rather than a few weeks later (which is where I am now).

Whitebeam - the manufacturers are silent on whether or not to use a sealer at all. The retailer told me that they recommend an impregnating sealer, applied before grouting, so I used what they recommended. However it is entirely possible that I've got the right product, but applied it incorrectly due to inexperience. I did follow the instructions, but they said buff with a cloth or a buffing machine. I used a cloth and buffed like mad, but I hate to think just how hard I would have had to have worked to replicate a buffing machine!

ray t t - thanks. I agonised for ages as to whether to seal, and decided to go with what the retailer said. I figured that using it was erring on the side of caution - what could go wrong?!? I like the idea of the stripes- I'll do that with the next floor.
