Dull quartz worktops

When quartz worktops quickly become dull (not caused by cleaning, grease etc.) what is the technical term called?

It depends on what has caused them to dull.. i have not seen any do it.. unless they are acid etched and that is normally only in patches.

Someone I know has had one go dull and so got it replaced by the supplier. In fear of the next one also going dull she has not touched it with anything but water. It is as though the surface as oxidized as paint does.

Washing up liquid is a killer for stone as it strips sealer life and can dull polished surfaces if aggressively cleaned...

but for quartz tops, without actually seeing it then it is hard to say whether it can be resolved/renovated.

The quartz hasn't been sealed and I don't believe it can be, can it? The worktops are only 3-4 months old.

Is this the ceaserstone type quartz worktops..?

These are totally different and don't need sealing and are easy to look after.

I agree with you dave, Many people get confused by man made acrylic bound quartz and the real slab quartz. They are 2 hugely different things.

I have seen real quartz be sensitive to strange things.

Man bound quartz should be resistant but in reality it is not. It takes in color enhancers, is sensitive to acids, and stains despite the claims of the makers of it.
