3 apprentices in 6 years only one has worked out well, most kids are just not interested in hard work, sacked the last one a month ago because he threatened to smash a subbies face in because he asked him to mix the stone from different crates, he's only 5ft 3, but had discovered the joys of alcohol over the last 6 months or so and thought he could take on the world, so totally disolushioned with the whole apprentice thing.

Employ staff if you want to. My mate had over 10 tilers, some turned up for work, others turned up, still drunk and caused all sorts or damage/problems. Some stayed with him for years, only to go and start up themselves and nick his full time custom etc. It's up to you, if you need a headache!

And, the new c.i.s working regs are a pain, plus you have to pay a percentage of their NI etc......................No thankyou sir!

Apprentices are hard work if you go through the whole CITB thing then you lose them to college blocks for up to 12 weeks which then leaves you working yourself plus you still have to pay their wages while their not with you, you do get some of your hard earned cash back but only every 3 month instalments and even that is a percentage of what you have paid, if you have a unemployed taliban army i would recommend them
