Looking for advise on my first job. Did a tiling curse back in jan but due to circumstances i have lost my confidence.
800x800 shower quad and bog. I can take the bog out no probs but shal i tile straight onto 4x2 floor boards with flexible adhesive and grout or board with treated ply (8x4x9mm) then tile????
Any advise would be nice.
Tutor on the course said ring him any time for help, but i feel a bit of a tool because it is only a small room (3m2 8x8 tiles)

hi mate just take ur time an prep walls an floor lay 18mm wbp screwed down flex addy for floor an walls if ur wall tiles 800x800..r u running tiles off wall to floor?? then check how ur cuts will be.. member its not a race take ur time

take the toilet out and ply the floor with 12mm ply and then use a flexi adhesive and flexi grout.As Div says ,take your time and you will be fine.tHE MOST IMPORTANT THING FOR THE JOB TO LOOK GOOD IS THE SETTING OUT SO GET THIS SPOT ON AND YOU WILL BE FINE.iF YOU WANT TO ASK ANY QUESTIONS AT ALL THEN DO NOT HEITATE.We are all here to help each other and there are no stupid questions so dont be shy.

Thanx for the reply's lads. Mite start next weekend need some bits first. I hav got to remove the skirting first, should i tile the floor first (i will use grey grout) then put the last course of tiles on the wall were the skirting was (i will use white grout) so as not dirty the grout on the wall tiles?(room was tiled some time ago, to the skirting)

Good afternoon.

Get your monies worth and ring your tutor - he'll appreciate the feedback and learn how your getting on.
You will bound to get different advice from various members because everyone has their own way of tiling and adhesive manufacturers give advice to protect themselves. There are adhesives that tell you to tile directly onto well fixed floorboards but when the tiles crack -and they will - then you haven't secured the floor correctly!
Set your tiling out so the lines of jonts flow from the shower walls and continue onto the floor.
The floor should have a plywood (if that's your choice) overlay to minimise the joints and the thickness should be 12mm. Personally I would use 6mm Hardie backer tile board which is an exceptional product.
There is a thread on 345 triangle but for the size of your room I wouldn't let it bother you in this instance - just take your line from the straight lines you have in the 3m sq bathroom.
