Energy suppliers

Who gives the best energy supply these days (Gas and Electric). After receiving a "catch up" bill from NPower I have hit the roof and intend to switch suppliers. Any reccomendations please ?

eon for electric and british gas for gas, Mrs Doug has said that due to location, thats the best deal we can get

Try this company, they are not very well known but they were the best when I sold Gas and Electric in 2003

We have just swapped to Utilities warehouse for electricity, phone etc. Got oil so pay for that when delivered.

I only need electric and check on the web, there are several comparison sites, when my current contract is due. The best deal depends on where you live and what offers are on at the time. My last swop was from Npower to Eon.

my mrs used to work with scottish power and is well informed E.D.F is the cheapest supplier but it can vary depending on what area you are in

Yes David, EDF is coming up the cheapest for me too with a yearly saving of £299.

I can't stress enough that you need to give THIS a go mate. Pick duel fuel, and then pick paperless billing and direct debit when the options arrive. And use your last bill to enter your usage and it should be pretty accurate for you.

Sister-in-law used to work for nPower and she told me about how they work area-wise. nPower are our local suppliers and have the staffordshire patch. nPower have to fix their prices and use the recommendations from the government for all their designated areas. However an area nPower is NOT the designated supplier they can compete with prices.

Southern Electric and Scottish Electric (same company) have their patches in the north and south (clearly) so in the midlands we get good rates from them.Their customer service is shocking though, IMO.

So have a good search about and see what you come up with mate. Let us know.

Check out Uswitch and moneysavingexpert.com. Some times you get a better deal if you dont have dual fuel.
