epoxy primer

can anyone advise me where i can buy epoxy primer from - i need enough for 160sq.m and how much is it - cheers pete pjd tiling

Why does your primer need to be epoxy type Pete, has it been specified ?

gaz the shopfitting we are doing the tiling for have there are arteako (i think) tiles glued to the floor these must come up and then we must use the epoxy primer to cover the glue/adhesive that is left on the floor after removal of tiles

I think the tiles you are removing are Amtico which are vinyl tiles, with the correct cleaning and adhesive, you can tile over them as they are only 2mm thick. This may well be the easiest option, I have had vast experience with Amtico tiles, and if they have already been fixed down with epoxy adhesive, the self levelling compound they are layed on or plywood if on timber will be ripped to bits on removal causing you more work, if you need more advise on which of our products and procedures are appropriate just let me know....Gaz

A mate of mine lays Amtico all the time, he uses a heat gun to remove tiles and the glue if he needs to do repairs, i have seen him do this and they come up really easy.

thanks but the area is vast so might take to long but what if we use one of these industrial tile stripper to remove them - are they any good?

For what its worth - if this is a professional fit out of the unit, dont for gawds sake tile over it at all. Remove all the amtico and immediate subfloor - leveller, ply etc. None of it would be adequate prep for a hard tile finish. Take it all out - or have the main contractor do that - and then spec it and tile it properly. If its for a 'pound shop' thing well...Ill leave it to you!
