I wish i had a tenner for the amount of times this has been asked...

I've lost the Mrs in Spain a few times when I've suddenly stopped and start starring at the floor. You look like a right fool. Like a robot that's just ran out of power or something.

Even what totally sozzled in the gents in a bar or pub or something I'll be wondering around checking out the setting out and quality of work. Wouldn't do that sober in a gents like lol

Fell in a pool once when I was about to go out dressed in best but a bit tipsy as I was leaning over wondering why a groutline didn't line up. Next day I worked out it was due to the water bending the lines a bit but I couldn't bloody get my head around it at night when tipsy. Thought they'd got some triangle tiles or something - baffled me. Soon sobered up as the water was freezing.

You do it because you are thinking "would I have done better?" A lot of wanna be tilers probably do not look at different tiling situations because they know they will usually see how its supposed to be done properly.

:20:

so looking at tiles every where i go is a good sign. while on my course, i noticed the tiling in my bath and downstairs toilet. its an ex council house who the people we bought it off where the first owners since the council. so dont know who to blame.

the whole of the top is 2mm out, four tiles are upside down the grout in the corners goes thick to thin to thick again, and the beading, is just bent round the boxing in.

but i aint gonna re-do it. when i done the wooden flooring in the bedroom, my wife was following me round with a hoover. her head nearly ended up in the chopsaw.lol

but the bathroom and toilet are bad tho.

Have you noticed the shoddy workmanship in the shower scenes in these adult movies... err...

I'm not even a tiler and this happens to me

Drives my other half crazy. Every where we go, "They look likes tiles from my shop....*looks closer*......they are tiles from my shop"

:lol::lol::hurray::hurray::lol::lol:

do it all the time, but my problem's worse! i laboured to my old man's brickie squad for years and do it also with brickwork:yikes:

Usually when you look at it it's often "I would have done it another (better) way", but the odd time I've looked at tiling and thought to myself "That's a very good job".

Yep, look at the tiling whereever I go, tut-tut at grotty silicon and similar to David's lament I used to fix peoples' backs, so still observe peoples' postures ALL the time, make mental notes, before I realise, hey, I don't do this anymore! And skin tone and fingernail colour, etc etc... tilers are REALLY interesting...

I've a terrible habit when in the car with mates/the girl to drive past a house or a business and say "I tiled that". It's become a bit of a running joke with anyone who's in the car with me.

I do it that often I'm thinking of seeing someone about it all though it does come in handy when your out shopping with the girlfriend, just keep moaning about the lack of an expansion joint on the floor in New Look and you'll annoy her that much she'll want to leave :hurray:

I'm terrible for it. I stayed in a Villa last year on a family holiday where all the rooms were tiled. I spotted the floor in the living room ended in slithers against one wall, so without realising spent almost an hour pacing round the living room, dining room, and kitchen muttering things like "could have moved it 2 inches that way, wait no, that would left a naff cut against that banister, hmmm." Then after the hour concluded the tiler had done well

Worst ones are when you get down on your hands and knees to look at something in greater detail.
