Fed up with computers

Hi, after working in computers for about 18 years I have finally had enough (well I'd had enough years ago), I have handed in my notice and will be starting a tiling course at Diamond Training, West Sussex in January 2008.

Hi mate, welcome to the forums

Would it of not been possible to do the course then start on small tiling jobs while you were still in full time employment, as it can take some time before you start getting steady work in.

Hi Monty - welcome to the forum I was in IT loved it at first but got into network support and got completly hacked off with everybody wanting everything done yesterday, also you just get to know a system and in six months it is out of date. Also did hardware support but got fed up with hardware blaming software and vice versa. I miss the money but not the job and cutomers - good luck on your career change mate.

Fekin, I would have liked to try and ease myself into it but with my current job I have to leave home at 06:30 and then get back home again at about 18:30 - 19:00. This doesn't leave a lot of scope to do much else apart from have something to eat, put my daughter to bed and then sit down for a bit before I go to bed and start all over again.

I have managed to put aside about a years worth of funds to cover the mortgage and bills, so hopefully during that time I can work with other people to gain some experience and develop my own business at the same time.
