final cleaning

G

Guitardedleon

the downstairs toilet and storage areas I was doing are finished.

just before grouting the floor I hoovered and with a slightly damp sponge went over the tiles to remove any left dust
then grouted and with a mostly dry sponge-sponged off excess as I went

after the grout had been down for 5 mins I went back and carefully went over it again
same again after around 30 and finally the morning after

tiles were spotless!

now though no matter how much I mop I can see like a haze but not grout more addy!?

Ive gone in and wiped every tile with one of those scotch pad/sponges & moped once more.. still not clean enough!
when damp they look bang on- no visible dirt at all.. but when drying its all visible

I would take pics but I have no phone and the missus has the iPad with her at her mothers

any tips to getting them good?

Are you going over tiles with a dry or wet sponge as a wet sponge will just move the residue around where a dry will buff it off

yeh you have to sponge the excess let the haze come over tiles and then buff off ive been told micro fibre cloths work best so have only ever used them and tiles come up lovely.

using both,

damp sponge first, let dry and then buffing off with a clean dry cloth.
it is slowly (very slowly ) getting better, probably a few more washes & It will be sorted hopefully

Thanks guys,

Merry Xmas to all!

You probably didnt get enough grout off the tiles before letting it dry which has caused this. Perhaps try a emulsifying pad to remove what's left or even some grout remover

you can use a grout haze remover try different watered down solutions, use neat if needed dependant on make of solution and tile this should remove it

I got every single spec of grout of as I worked down the room. I was very careful of that.

Just run of the mill black 30x30 porcelain, Colour.

everything is back open 27th so if I cant shift it by then, will grab an emulsifying pad & grout haze remover

its no-where near as bad as it was at all now so to be honest I reckon it will go easy enough now
just a final mop & buff

don't worry about it mate its solvable just kick back and relax for the next day merry Christmas.
