Fired earth hand trown terracotta.

i have been asked to quote on fixing 20m2 diamond pattern 300x300 hand thrown terracotta to a pretty much rectangluar room (one small diag. return wall).

the tiles are pre sealed for handling and will require two coats of sealer, and fired earth insist on the grout joints being pointed (as opposed to slurry grouting).

has anyone fixed fired earth pre sealed terracotta?

how much would you charge?

i have already put my price in, just wondering if we are in the same ballpark?

I have fixed these before, just fix them seal then grout, then a really good clean and a final seal. I have sent you a PM with a price i charged.

What sealer have they already put on the terracotta and what type of sealer will it now accept?
There doesn't seem to be anything on the surface of that tile which would stop me 'grouting the joints'.
It sounds as though it is about 3 days work + a return trip to final seal.

thanks for the comments so far..enduro, thanks for the pm, much apprieciated. p.s i charged a little more!timeless, your timing and my timings are the same, the tiles are presealed at the factory, no one knows what with.. the customer wants them fitting next week because her kitchen is coming the week after, but in my experience with hand thrown is.. .. .. they come into the country soaking wet, so they cant be fitted immediatly, or sealed straight away, i compensated for this in my price.the surface knowing terracotta makers, will proberbly be an ltp product, but in the factory they just brush it on the top surface not the sides, i installed some applestone recently and the tiles were dipped in stain-stop plus at factory level, best thing ever!people think fired earth are quality suppliers, they are the same as all the others.. if you can get it cheap enough, supply it! just my opinion, no tile stockists were harmed in the making of this statment!!!!!!!

never done them from fired earth but they look like what worlds end tiles used to bring in just used to gout them as normal but you cant just use normal gout or it will craze
