the white strip on worktop is a bench edge the gran wanted fitted so it had a water tight finish incase of any spillages on the bench ...

yes it is a split cut because i could not take the main cooker plug out, i got it off the wall but had to split the tile to get it on the wall if you know what i mean.

You should have cut the shape of the socket out of the tile slightly undersize and by turning the tile you would have got it over the socket. In years to come as your skill progresses you will cringe every time you see that

i did cut the tile 10mil smaller than the plug socket so it would sit nicely behind the tile just like the plug socket to left left in the picture, but whatever i tryed to do i could not get the plug socket through the hole in the tile so i had to cut the tile in two - i know its not the best way to do it but i did not know any-other way i could do it apart from unwireing the plug socket itself and taking it off the wall but its the cooker plug socket and it looked a complicated to me to be messing with ... lol ... thanks for your feedback mate and the pointers will be kept in mind.

good on ya for tiling your grans kitchen. My 1st job was a kitchen too. I agree with Neale you will look back at that cut in time and slap your forehead.

That highlights why staying an active member on tilersforums.com will help you so much. If you had asked, Neale or many others would of advised on how to avoid the split cut.

Good straight lines and from what I can see cuts are good too. well done! plus you got to spend loads of time with your gran.

I wont heart you to learn a little more about domestic electrics. will save you hours of time in the long run.
