Fishing for desk lamp fitting advice Discussion ThreadFishing for desk lamp fitting advice Electrical Advice

Hi,
I made this ceramic angler fish at a beginner’s pottery course, with the intention of turning into a desk lamp. Now comes figuring out how to make the electric part fit!
I wondered if any forum members out there knew of useful parts that could help complete this.
I have copper pipe, and a vintage-style fitting running through it. My two issues/questions are:
  • how can I ensure the copper pipe stays in the hole in the fish, and doesn’t fall out? I’ve put a size reducing part on the pipe, so it now sits in the hole, but it’s not very secure/stable. (A permanent option is gluing I suppose.)
  • the light fitting doesn’t screw or sit tightly in the other end of the copper pipe. I’d ideally like it fixed on somehow and not sure if there’s an existing solution out there somewhere (maybe soldering, again permanent, if I can source that).
Overall I want to make sure the copper pipe isn’t at risk of toppling out the fish hole, and the lighting cable isn’t at risk of sliding out of the pipe causing a bulb to hit the desk.
I can get inside the fish via a larger hole in the bottom.
Any advice is very welcome.
Thanks,
Rob
