Ach! Was waiting for someone to mention tanking. It won't be a power shower. Just an electric one. Is tanking really necessary? Does using a tanking kit affect the choice of adhesive?

Water proofing a shower area can save a lot of money . It keeps the substrate dry and should if done right stop all leaks in the shower area

as for adh choice depends on what make of tanking . Best to get the adh that will guarantee over the waterproofing you choice

Mapei P9 will do what you need and it is on a good price at CTD at the moment. Haven't got a Tile Giant near me so can't comment on their prices.
Tanking is advisable as extra insurance against water ingress as plasterboard doesn't like getting wet....even "water resistant" stuff!!

In summary. Fixing of 330 x 250 x 8mm white ceramic tiles to moisture resistant plasterboard.
Tanking kit - Mapei Shower Waterproofing kit.
Tile adhesive - Mapei P9 in white.
Grout - Keracolor FF (?)

Feel free to agree or disagree with any of the above. I opted for mapei purely because I can get the tanking kit for £40.00 at screwfix.
